Rusty Chicks beat Surrey

The Chilliwack Lunachicks hosted the Surrey’s SBBA squad Jan. 14, playing their first league game wince Dec. 12.

The local classic women’s division soccer team showed signs of rust, surrendering a goal just three minutes in.

But the Lunachucks tied three minutes before halftime with Sandy Champ pulling the trigger on the rebound from a Janelle Cavanaugh shot.

Cavanaugh was injured on the play and had to leave the game, forcing Chilliwack to play the remainder of the game with only 10 players.

The Lunachicks persevered, getting a pair of second half goals from Andrea Feaver and a single from Kelly Joiner (assist to Cara Brendzy) to win 4-1.
