Royals ruled by Lunachicks

The Chilliwack Lunachicks beat New Westminster’s Royals  3-0 Sunday to finish   three round robin playoff games without a loss (3-0-0).

Kelly Joiner opened the scoring at the five minute mark, taking a pass from Andrea Feaver and hitting a tough angle shot from 15 yards out.

Eight minutes into the second half Lisa Shearer knocked in a shot during a scramble in front of the Hyack net.

Cara Brendzy closed out the scoring five minutes later, taking a breakaway pass from Feaver and scoring on her own rebound.

Keepers Lisa Hiemstra and Leigh Roberton combined for the Chilliwack shutout and the classic women’s division soccer squad now advances to the final eight.

They take on the North Vancouver Rage in a quarter final game.

That match takes place Sunday at the Tzeachten Sports Field.
