Chilliwack's Voodoo Derby Dollz is having a fundraiser roller derby scrimmage in Abbotsford on Jan. 19 to raise money for Julie Barr (aka Sheila Hurt-U).

The Chilliwack Voodoo Derby Dollz are hosting a fundraising scrimmage on Saturday, Jan. 19 to raise money for a teammate who was on life support for two weeks.

Julie Barr, who goes by the roller derby name Sheila Hurt-U, came down with a Group A strep infection that put her into intensive care. She came off life support before Christmas, but the treatment to save her life led to the amputation of part of her leg, as well as some of her toes and fingers.

Proceeds from the event will go to Barr, a wife and mother of two, to help make her home more accessible. Skaters can register to participate in the co-ed scrimmage for $25 and spectators are welcome by donation.

Or, those wishing to donate to the cause can do so at TD Canada Trust Bank, branch 0274, account #6445026.

The event, Super Scrimmage for Sheila Hurt-U, will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Ag-Rec Centre in Abbotsford at 32470 Haida Dr.
