Pitchers carry bantam Cougars past Tritons

The Chilliwack bantam A Cougars ground out two weekend wins over Abbotsford and the White Rock Tritons.

Chilliwack's bantam A baseball Cougars enjoyed a winning weekend, beating Abbotsford and White Rock.

Friday's battle against Abbotsford found the home team down 5-1 through three-and-a-half innings. They cut the deficit to 5-3, then loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth.

Caleb Blundell gave the Cougars the lead with a hard-hit single and the final score was 7-5.

Blundell teamed with Morgan Turgeon and Carter Bogart on the mound. Bogart was outstanding, striking out nine over four innings.

Chilliwack edged the White Rock Tritons 5-3 Sunday.

Bogart got another save, shutting things down after the Tritons cut into a 5-0 deficit. Blundell got the win and Caelen Sampson struck out three.
