McLellan one shot shy of tournament win

A Chilliwack native was one shot off the pace at the second leg of the Zone 3 Junior Spring Golf Tour.

The second leg of the Zone 3 Junior Spring Golf Tour teed off last Sunday at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Harrison Mills.

Chilliwack Golf and Country Club’s Connor McLellan came within a stroke of winning, shooting a two-under-par 70 to finish in a three-way tie for second place. Colton Dorian and Ian Kim also finished one shot back of the leader, Kevin Ko, who also won the opening tournament.

Ko shot a three-under-par 69 at Sandpiper.

There were 10 other players within six strokes of the winner, making for a very competitive tournament.

CG&CC’s Kaleb Fisher finished 15th with a 76.

CG&CC’s Steven Scurr finished 30th with a 79.

Cultus Lake’s Nathan Bahnman shot an 83 to place 45th.

The next round will be at Abbotsford’s Ledgeview Golf Club on Sunday. Chilliwack’s Royalwood hosts May 20.
