Lucas Mannes and his Calgary Dinos started their playoff journey with a two-game whomping of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in Canada West men’s basketball action last weekend.
Mannes, a GW Graham grad, produced 16 points off the bench in last Friday’s opening game of a best-of-three series, a 98-57 home-court win for Calgary.
Mannes played 22 minutes, shooting four of eight from the field and three of seven from three-point range. The fifth-year guard added five rebounds and two assists.
The Wesmen put up a tougher fight in Saturday’s rematch, but couldn’t avoid elimination.
The Dinos won 88-75, with Mannes accounting for 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot in 27 minutes of floor-time.
Including the regular season, Calgary is now 22-0 heading into a best-of-three Canada West semi-final against the University of Saskatchewan.
The other semi-final has the University of Alberta taking on the University of British Columbia.
