Local course up for provincial award

Chilliwack Golf and Country Club is one of four courses in the running to be the PGA of BC 2013 Facility of the Year.

The Chilliwack Golf and Country Club is one of four nominees vying to become the PGA of BC’s 2013 Golf Facility of the Year.

The PGA of BC announced several nominees in several categories Wednesday. CG&CC is one of four in the best facility race, joined by Victoria’s Bear Mountain Golf Resort, Oliver’s   Fairview Mountain Golf Club and Windermere’s Copper Point Golf Club.

The winner will be announced at the  PGA of BC Awards Reception, taking place Oct. 16 at the River Rock Casino Resort

“It’s a huge accolade for us that we’re super excited about,” said CG&CC general manager Bryan Ewart. “We’re up against three good courses, but we feel we’ve done a good job and have a good chance to win.”

Nominations were based in part on high profile events hosted by the courses.

CG&CC held several, including the BCGA Senior Women’s Championship and the Vancouver Golf Tour’s Major Series.
