A strong showing at PGA of BC golf tournaments has earned Cheam Mountain Golf Course pro Kevin Stinson the Stan Leonard Player of the Year award.

According to the PGA of BC, the award “recognizes exceptional play in tournament competition and is influenced heavily by the season-long PGA of BC Order of Merit, as well as participation in national events and PGA of Canada championships.”

Stinson earned 89.33 Order of Merit points in 2021. Runner up Jake Skarrow from the Chilliwack Golf Club had 86.66.

Stinson won four regional events between the Lower Mainland’s G&G Tour and the Interior PGA Tour. The 35-year-old tied for seventh at the PGA of BC Assistants’ Championship and tied for fifth at the PGA of BC Championship.

He also competed twice nationally, finishing second at the PGA Championship of Canada and the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada.

Stinson and other award winners will be recognized at the 2021 PGA of BC Awards Celebration, which will be broadcast online at noon on Oct. 13.
