Jennifer Greggain named LPGA top teacher

The lead instructor at the Chillwack Golf Academy may be the first Canadian ever recognized as an LPGA Teacher of the Year.

Chilliwack Golf Academy instructor Jennifer Greggain has been named the Ladies Professional Golf Association Western Section Teacher of the Year. The LPGA’s  Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) membership picks regional winners from the Central, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, Western, and International areas.Greggain is being recognized in the Western zone, which includes BC, Washington State, Oregon, California and Idaho.“This is a huge honour and not something often won by a Canadian,” she said. “It means a lot to me because there are a lot of very excellent teachers in the western United States and Canada.”“I don’t think it’s ever been won by a Canadian, so I’m pretty excited about that.”Greggain said being in a leadership role at the Chilliwack Golf Club probably played a big part in getting the award.“Not very often do LPGA members get opportunities for leadership like I have as director of instruction for the Chilliwack Golf Academy,” she said. “There’s also my work with the UFV golf team and the high school academy, so I’m offering a lot.” If she wins the national honour, she’ll be invited to the PGA Show in Orlando, FL. in November.
