Horn Goalie camp back at Twin Rinks

Bill Horn played minor pro hockey for eight years and is the lead coach at the summer camp.

The third annual Horn Goaltending Maximum Potential Camp returns to Chilliwack this summer.

Running Aug. 11-13 at Twin Rinks, the program offers six and a half hours of ice time plus five hours of classroom/off-ice work.

Bill Horn is the lead instructor.

One of the finest goalies in Western Michigan University history, Horn went on to an eight year career in the minor-pro ranks.

His hockey highlight was a trip to the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup final as a member of the 1992-93 Rochester Americans. Other hockey stops included the International Hockey League (San Diego Gulls), East Coast Hockey League (Greensboro Monarchs/Wheeling Thunderbirds/Raleigh Icecaps) and United Hockey League (Winston-Salem Icehawks).

Horn even played roller hockey, winning championships with the 1993 Anaheim Bullfrogs and 1996 Orlando Jackals.

His camp focuses on goaltending fundamentals and game-translatable skills including; skating, mobility, athletic stance, active hands, glove skills, tracking, body control, saves with active recoveries, repositioning, post protection/post work, stick skills, puck handling, passing lane cutoffs, tips and screens and freezing the puck.

Seventeen goalies attended last year’s camp, including one from Regina, SK.
