Honours keep coming for Chilliwack golfer

Brad Clapp wasn't a big name coming into the 2012 golf season, but everyone knows the Chilliwack kid now.

Chilliwack Gold and Country Club's Brad Clapp has been named the Player of the Year and overall Order of Merit winner by the PGA of British Columbia.

The awards were announced Thursday afternoon.

Clapp is the associate teaching instructor at CG&CC's Chilliwack Golf Academy, and he had a fantastic season on the pro circuit.

He won $10,764 in prize money, including $8,000 on PGA of BC tour stops.

The 25-year-old won the 2012 PGA of BC Assistants Championship in early July, torching Vernon's Golf and Country Club course to win the tournament by nine strokes.

In late July, Clapp took the PGA of BC Championship with a four stroke win at Courtenay's Crown Isle Golf Resort.

A celebration to honour Clapp and other award recipients and finalists will be held Feb. 18, 2013 at the Point Grey Golf and Country Club.
