GW Graham grad Ethan Mastin has helped his St. Francis Xavier University X-Men win an Atlantic University Sport football championship.

The AUS Loney Bowl championship game was played last Saturday, with Mastin’s X-Men invading Huskies Stadium, home of the St. Mary’s Huskies.

Mastin contributed four solo tackles and a pass breakup on the St. Francis Xavier defence, leading his team to a 33-9 triumph.

In his first season of U-Sports football, Mastin has emerged as a starting cornerback for the X-Men. In a Nov. 3 game against Acadia he recorded his first interception in a 33-10 rout of the Axemen and he has become a key player on special teams.

Mastin leads his team into another playoff battle this weekend as they face the Laval Rouge et Or in a national semi-final.

The winner will return to Quebec City the following weekend to face either the Western Mustangs or Saskatchewan Huskies in the Vanier Cup national championship game.
