Goalie Gillam gets first team all-star nod

Chilliwack Chiefs goalie Mitch Gillam and teammates Luke Esposito, Austin Plevy and Phil Zielonka got BCHL all-star recognition.

Three Chilliwack Chiefs are prominently featured in the BCHL's all-star and all-rookie teams.

The league announced the teams Wednesday morning.

A poll of the BCHL head coaches lands Chiefs forward Luke Esposito and goaltender Mitch Gillam on the Coastal conference first all-star team. Austin Plevy and Philip Zielonka find spots on the second all-star team.

Zielonka and Esposito, both in the top 13 on the BCHL scoring leaders list, are also named to the all-rookie team.

12 of the BCHL's 16 teams had players named to the teams.

Only Prince George, Nanaimo, Coquitlam and Powell River did not.

The Coastal conference first team consists of Gillam, Esposito, Mario Puskarich (F- Langley), Brady Shaw (F- Surrey), Devon Toews (D- Surrey) and Craig Wyszomirksi (D- Surrey)

The Coastal conference second team consists of Plevy, Zielonka, Adam Tambellini (F- Surrey), D.J. Jones (D- Victoria), Bo Pellah (D- Alberni Valley) and Michael Santaguida (G- Surrey).

On the Interior conference side, the first team consists of Wade Murphy (F- Penticton), Marcus Basara (F- West Kelowna), Seb Lloyd (F- West Kelowna), Troy Stecher (D- Penticton), Shane Hanna (D- Salmon Arm) and Tyler Steel (G- Merritt).

The Interior conference second team consists of Regan Soquila (F- Merritt), John Siemer (F- Penticton), Brent Baltus (F- Trail), Brett Corkey (D- Vernon), Josh Monk (D- West Kelowna) and Tyler Briggs (G- West Kelowna).

The all-rookie team consists of Zielonka, Esposito, Santaguida, Brad McClure (F- Penticton), Jarrett Brown (D- Cowichan Valley), Dane Birks (D- Merritt).
