Gibson leads SFU swim team against UBC and UVic

The Chilliwack Spartan Swim Club grad won one race, continuing a strong season with the Clan.

Chilliwack Spartan Swim Club grad Jessie Gibson scored another victory for the Simon Fraser University Clansmen in a meet last Friday.

Facing athletes from the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and University of Victoria Vikes, Gibson earned top spot in the 200 metre butterfly with a time of 2:16.35.

Gibson captured second place in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:20.26.

She teamed with Jordan Doner, Kaleigh Sharkey and Sara Whelan in the 400m medley relay, with SFU finishing second. Gibson, Sharkey, Whelan and Kennedy Loewen finished second in the 400m freestyle relay.

The UBC team finished first overall, with a 137-110 points edge over SFU and a 148-89 edge over Victoria.

Gibson’s crew held a 152-104.5 advantage over the Vikes to finish second.

Gibson is back in the pool Saturday in Idaho as the Clan takes on the University of Idaho and Grand Canyon U in another dual meet.
