Falcons fifth at high school golf provincials

Steven Scurr was the third best individual golfer at the BC High School provincial championships in Courtney.

The Sardis secondary school senior golf team finished fifth in a field of 21 teams at the 2013 Provincials, held May 27-29 at the Crown Isle Resort in Courtney, British Columbia.

Playing in wet and windy condition on day one, the Falcons were sixth with a combined score of 323.

Steven Scurr led the way with a three-over-par 75. Connor McLellan (81), Tristan Dundas (83), Grayden Northey (84) and Mitchell Thiessen (85) rounded out the first round scoring.

The local lads picked it up on day two, posting a combined 308 to take sole possession of fifth place.

Scurr and McLellan fired one-over-par 73s. Dundas shot 78. Thiessen shot 84 and Grayden Northey shot 88.

Individually, Scurr was the third best golfer in a field of 105. McLellan was 14th. Dundas was 38th. Thiessen was 66th and Northey 70th.
