Fairfield Island hosts midget baseball provincials

Eight of BC's best midget AAA baseball teams do battle this weekend, with four days of action at Chilliwack's Fairfield Island diamonds.

Chilliwack's Fairfield Island diamonds host the midget provincial baseball championships this weekend, with eight top teams squaring off.

The host Chilliwack Cougars are joined in pool A by the Victoria Selects, Cloverdale Spurs and South Okanagan Tigers.

The four teams in pool B are the Vancouver Mounties, Tri-City Indians, Kamloops RiverDogs and Richmond Chuckers.

Chilliwack opens Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. versus Cloverdale.

The opening ceremonies follow right after at 6 p.m.

The Cougars face Victoria Friday afternoon (3 p.m.) and South Okanagan Saturday morning (9 a.m.) to wrap up pool play.

The top two teams in each pool advance to Sunday morning semi-finals at 10 a.m.

The gold-medal match goes at 1 p.m.
