Dennis Cholowski set for NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings

Chilliwack Chiefs alum survives the final round of cuts and will see his first big-league action.

Chilliwack Chiefs grad Dennis Cholowski will make his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, Oct. 4.

The Red Wings made cuts to their roster over the weekend, but Cholowski is one of the young players who will stay and play with the Wings during the 2018-19 season.

The season begins on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as the Wings take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Cholowski is a 20-year-old defenceman who stands six-foot-one and weighs 195 pounds.

On April 5, 2017, the Detroit Red Wings announced on Twitter that they agreed to terms with Cholowski on a three-year entry-level contract .

The Wings selected Cholowski in the first round (20th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to being drafted, Cholowski played one season with Minnesota’s St. Cloud State, and two seasons with the Chiefs.
