Crossover game for Valley Huskers

The Canadian Junior Football League has never matched teams from different conferences in regular season play until this season.

The Valley Huskers revealed an interesting part of their 2016 schedule Monday.

The local BC Football Conference team will help make history this fall as they host the Winnipeg Rifles.

The Rifles play in the Prairie Football Conference, and never before have the two conferences met in a regular season matchup. Winnipeg visits Chilliwack Sept. 17 with a 1 p.m. kickoff at Exhibition Stadium.

A second crossover game on that same day will see a rematch of the 2015 Canadian Bowl.

The Saskatoon Hilltops travel to Kelowna’s Apple Bowl to face the Okanagan Sun.

Both games will count in the standings.

If these games are successful the CJFL (Canadian Junior Football League) will look at more Inter-conference Games next season.

The rest of the Huskers 2016 schedule is set to be released Thursday.
