Chilliwack’s Zachary Clay captured two silver medals at the Elite Canada gymnastics meet, held Feb. 2-5 in Halifax, NS.
Competing in the senior men’s division under the banner of Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics Club, Clay was second on the rings and parallel bars and sixth on the pommel horse.
Chilliwack’s Brienna Gaspar competed in the junior women’s group where she finished 35th all-around.
A third local, Mikhayla Rosenow, was 38th all-around in the novice women’s division.
The meet functioned as an identification process for Canada’s national men’s team, and Clay helped himself with a strong showing. The women were looking to qualify for the 2017 Canadian Championships in Montreal.
