Chilliwack’s Kory McCann grabs gold at wakeboard nationals

The teenager soared to victory on Spray Lake in Toronto, ON after finishing second last year.

Chilliwack’s Kory McCann is a national champion.

The teenager traveled to Toronto for the Canadian National Wakeboard Championships, hitting the water Aug. 19-22 at Spray Lake.

The 13 year old competed in the boy’s 10-13 age group in the straight-line cable park event, taking out five Ontario foes who couldn’t top him despite enjoying home-park advantage.

McCann scored 90.33 points, well ahead of the runner up who scored 81.

Kory’s brother, Kaden, who this same division last year, with Kory snagging silver. Kaden jumped up an age group this year, finishing fourth in the junior men’s (14-18) group.
