Chilliwack FC grad Jordyn Huitema is one of eight female players nominated for Canada Soccer’s Canadian Youth International Player of the Year award.

Canada Soccer announced the nominees Wednesday.

Huitema, captain of Canada’s U-17 team, should be a top candidate in a group that includes the future stars of the Canadian national women’s team — Maya Antoine, Wayny Balata, Julia Grosso, Anna Karpenko, Jayde Riviere, Jade Rose and Andersen Williams.

Coaches will vote on the award and the winner will be announced Dec. 10.
