Curl B.C. has announced its 2017 award winners, with a Chilliwack team taking home hardware.

Team Klebe features Janet Klebe and Kerri Miller of Chilliwack, Jane Adam of Rosedale and Laurie Shimizu of Richmond.

The quartet won gold at the 2017 B.C. Masters Curling Championships at Cranbrook Curling Club. They followed that with a bronze medal performance at the 2017 Canadian Masters Curling Championships in Guelph, ON.

In addition to curling at a top level, the women gladly give their time as volunteers at the Chilliwack Curling Club.

Janet works evenings and weekends at the club and calls it her “happy place.” Jane is a recent retiree who runs the junior curling program. Kerri also retired and moved to Chilliwack a few years ago. She and her husband volunteer for many things including clinics, school classes and bartending.

“Once again we are amazed by the commitment and dedication of our athletes, who continue to perform so well on the national and world stage,” said Ron Phillips, the Chair of Curl B.C.’s recognition and awards committee. “We are also in awe of all the volunteers who put so much into making our sport enjoyable for all. These awards are in grateful recognition of all the people who are so supportive of our community.”

The awards will be handed out at the 2017 Curl B.C. annual awards banquet on June 3 at the Kelowna Curling Club.
