Evan Foster is officially in the Canadian Football League statistical record, recording his first tackle in his second professional game.
Late in the first quarter of last Saturday’s showdown between Foster’s Toronto Argonauts and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Chilliwackian lined up on special teams.
Following an Argo major, kicker Liam Hajrullahu boomed the kickoff 69 yards to the Saskatchewan six yard line. Rider return man Greg Morris turned upfield and as he crossed the 35 yard line, Foster brought him down.
Playing time has been scarce for the Chilliwack Minor Football, who dressed for the last two Toronto games after spending the first four on the practice squad. He was sent back to the practice squad earlier this week.
Foster was a third round pick (19th overall) of the Boatmen in last spring’s CFL entry draft after a standout career at the University of Manitoba.
He has been wearing No. 43 for TO.
