Chilliwack’s Ben Challis helps B.C. Rugby score silver at nationals

The GW Graham student led his U-17 squad to the gold medal game at the Canadian Rugby Championships.

Chilliwack’s Ben Challis and his U-17 B.C. Rugby squad scored silver medals at the Canadian Rugby Championships, held Aug. 15-20 in Calgary.

Challis and company played older competition in the U-18 bracket, going 2-0 in round-robin action with wins over the Nova Scotia Keltics (38-10) and Quebec (24-17).

After bouncing Quebec again in elimination play (44-10), Team B.C. finally lost, falling 29-26 in the gold medal game to Alberta.

Challis tallied one try in the tournament.
