Chilliwack’s Aynsley D’Ottavio will be on the blueline for Team B.C. at the 2021 Western Regional Women’s U18 Championship.

The tournament takes place Nov. 1 to 6 at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Team B.C. will take on Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

D’Ottavio is one of seven defencemen on the 20-player roster, which is coached by Kris Hogg, assistant coaches Amy De Bree and Venla Hovi and goaltender/video coach Eddie Guay. Originally, this U18 team was supposed to compete in the 2021 National Women’s U18 Championship in Dawson Creek, but that event was cancelled by Hockey Canada.

“We are extremely pleased to be at this point after all of the uncertainty that has been clouding the U18 Female program,” said Fred Zweep, Commissioner of BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence. “There were some very hard decisions that we had to make when trimming this roster down to just 20 players and we are excited to see them on the ice with the opportunity to play in a meaningful tournament.”
