A group of Chilliwackians helped Fraser Valley Premier win a B.C. Premier Soccer League championship two weekends ago.

Connor Foltyn, Connor Harnett, Stuart Robertson and Ben Harris hit the pitch Nov. 17 in a match at the National Soccer Development Centre on the UBC campus.

They faced the defending champion Vancouver Island Wave and came away with a 1-0 win.

Fraser Valley Premier was fourth in the regular season standings with a 3-2-2 record and not expected to take the title. But they shocked first place Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC (5-1-1) in the semi-final before blanking the Wave in the final, showing that hard work pays off. The team trained three nights a week, two hours at a time, under the guidance of head coach Yuri Vasilevski.
