The Chiefs have added another player to the lineup for the 2017-18 season, inking Chilliwack native and Western Hockey League veteran Austin Wellsby.

Wellsby joins the Chiefs after three seasons with the Kootenay Ice. In 164 major junior games, he scored 15 goals and added 20 assists.

Weighing in at six-foot-three and just under 200 pounds, Wellsby brings a physical element and leadership abilities to the Chiefs.

He finished last season as an alternate captain with the Ice and is thrilled to be finishing his junior career in his hometown.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Chiefs for my final year of junior hockey and to play in the RBC Cup,” he said. “I grew up watching the Chiefs and I know they are a great organization. It’s going to be really special to play at home in front of my friends and family.”
