Chilliwack gymnasts secure spots at Elite Canada meet

The best of the best in Canadian artistic gymnastics will gather in Halifax, NS in February.

Three Chilliwack gymnasts have qualified to compete against the best of the best in Canada.

The artistic gymnastics competitive season kicked off earlier this month, with one male and two female competitors making the cut to compete at the Elite Canada event in Halifax in February.

Men’s competitions were held at Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics Club Dec. 4, with Chilliwack’s Zachary Clay qualifying. The women’s competition was held at Flicka Gymnastics in Vancouver and saw Mikhayla Rosenow and Brienna Gaspar qualify.

Competing in the high performance novice division, Rosenow was eighth all-round winning bronze on the floor while finishing fifth on the floor and bars and 13th on the beam. Competing in the high performance junior division,  Gasper was second all-around with a silver medal performance on the bars accompanied by bronze on the beam, fourth on the floor and seventh on the vault.

Elite Canada events are part of the high-performance pathway for gymnasts to pursue excellence and achievement at the highest national and international levels.
