Chilliwack golfers in the hunt at junior championship

Chilliwack's Steven Scurr and Connor McLellan still have a shot at the lead as round two goes today at the Revelstoke Golf Club.

Chilliwack's Steven Scurr is tied for 33rd overall through one round of the 2013 BC Junior Boys' Golf Championship.

The tournament is being played at the Revelstoke Golf Club, with golfers playing off the blue tee (6,537 yards and par 72).

Scurr was three over par in round one. He had birdies on the first, seventh and 13th holes, but balanced them out with bogies on the second, fourth, 10th and 18th holes. He double-bogied the eighth hole, and sits six shots off the lead.

Nanaimo's Mark Valliere holds down top spot with a three-under-par 69.

Chilliwack's Connor McLellan is also in the mix, just one shot behind Scurr and seven off the overall lead.

McLellan's round included a birdie on the fourth offset by bogies on the third, fifth, ninth, 13th and 17th holes.

Rounds two, three and four go today, tomorrow and Friday.
