Chilliwack’s junior bantam Giants captured the Valley Community Football League championship Saturday, beating Meadow Ridge by a 52-36 count.

Hitting the road to face a normally stifling Knights D, Chilliwack’s offence rolled up nearly 600 yards (595), using a dominant ground game to grind Meadow Ridge into the dirt.

The Giants had 425 yards on the ground, led by hard-charging running back Yapo Conteh (pictured right, No. 99), who had 347 yards and five touchdown runs.

Jace Chappell also had a TD run, with the rest of the scoring coming through the air. Quarterback Aiden Hewitt had 170 yards passing and threw touchdown tosses to slotback Christian Beck and wide receiver Carter Dallas.

Kicker Charlie Larson added two converts.

Dallas caught four passes for 125 yards and was named the Offensive Player of the Game. Conteh was named the MVP.

The Giants defence forced two turnovers. Dallas came up with an interception and Austin Staffen recovered a fumble. Defensive tackle Jake Wood produced a big quarterback sack and defensive tackle Matthew Ganske fought off double-team blocking to record three solo tackles. Playing safety, Beck had several pass knockdowns, a forced fumble and five tackles to earn the Defensive Player of the Game award.

Chilliwack now moves on the B.C. Community Football Association provincials,

Dec. 1 at McLeod Stadium in Langley.
