Chilliwack FC’s U-13 girls won a provincial championship last weekend, going 4-0 at a year-end tournament in Penticton.
Coached by Josh Hall and Dylan Cuff, the girls opened round-robin play with a 4-1 win over the Saanich Fusion, followed by a 3-2 win over Kelowna United B.
A 5-0 demolition of the Nelson Selects landed the locals in the final where they toppled Kelowna United A 5-0 to take the title.
Chilliwack FC’s U-14 girls made their own run in Penticton.
Coached by Rick Dool and Kyla Lounsbury, they rolled through the round-robin with wins over the Penticton Pinnacles (5-1), Prince George (1-0) and Kelowna (1-0).
The gold medal game saw Chilliwack and the Surrey Heat tied 0-0 through regulation time.
Extra time solved nothing, the game went to penalty kicks where Surrey took a 4-3 final.
Chilliwack FC’s U-18 boys hit the pitch in North Vancouver, battling to provincial bronze.
Coached by Jake Kubanski and Kyle Rawleck, the locals started slow with a 1-1 draw against the North Van Fury.
A 5-2 win over Kelowna got them rolling and they steam-rolled Terrace 8-0 in their last round-robin match.
But, due to BC Soccer Association rules, only five of Chilliwack’s eight strikes against Terrace counted towards goal differential, costing them a spot in the final. Instead, they dominated the bronze medal match with a 6-1 win over Nelson.
