Chilliwack’s college prep Cougars went 4-1 last week, starting with a hard-fought 5-3 win over the North Langley Blue Sox.

The Cougars took on the Kelowna Sun Devils in a pair of weekend double headers, winning three of four games.

Chilliwack won both games on Saturday, by 8-2 and 11 counts. After winning Sunday’s opener 8-2, the Cougars dropped the finale 5-2.

Jude Hall, Ty Hall and Noah Zimmer continued to hit well and get on base.

Jackson Saunders might have had his best couple of days as a prep team member, hitting the ball well and collecting a couple of RBIs.

Brendan Goldsworthy pitched a complete game gem in Saturday’s 11-1 triumph.

Chilliwack’s overall record is 17-4.

Chilliwack’s midget AAA team had the weekend off, but a couple players saw action at a three day U-16 High Performance Development Camp.

Fourteen or 15 players from that camp will be selected to a Team B.C. roster and Brycen Berg, Bradley Rae and Josiah Hansen were Chilliwack’s invitees.

Hansen had the misfortune to be sidelined with a concussion, but Berg and Rae benefited from high level coaching, training and game play.

Rae showed off his hitting prowess during batting practice, and in the first game he started with a opposite field line drive for a base hit, followed by a shot into the gap.

Berg’s repertoire of off-speed pitches threw batters off, resulting in strike outs or pop ups during his one inning pitched.

Chilliwack’s bantam AAA Cougars jammed five games into four games last week.

The Cougars dispatched the Abbotsford Angels 11-0 in a mercy-ruled no-hit performance from starter Aidan Saunders and closer Zach Zimmer.

It was the third no-hitter the Chilliwack pitching staff has thrown in 2019.

Saturday saw the Cougars taking on the Kamloops River Dogs in a double header.

Starting pitcher Aiden Henderson was lights out in the opener, striking out 16 Kamloops batters in five and two thirds innings in a 3-1 win.

Lefty Jared Hall took the bump in game two, pitching his crew to an 8-4 win.

The bats were led by lead off hitter Connor Dieleman and catcher Alijah-Paul Leiper, both posting 1.000 on-base percentages in the game.

On Sunday the Cougars played host to the Kelowna Sun Devils. Nathan Lamont started the opener and had an efficient 56 pitch five inning outing. Call up Lucas Fellner came in to close out the final two innings as the Cougars cruised to a 16-3 win.

Aidan Saunders completed the weekend by throwing five complete innings in a one-hit 10-0 mercy- rule win.

After being robbed of hits all weekend on multiple hard-hit balls, catcher Wyatt Emery was able to walk off with a pop fly to shallow center field which invoked the mercy rule.

Chilliwack is now in sole possession of third place in the province, with a run differential of plus-133 (runs for versus runs against) leading the league.

Chilliwack’s peewee AA navy squad finished their regular season with four wins.

Lucas Dykstra was three for four with a single, double and homerun in an 8-2 whomping of Aldergrove.

Riley Ashley clubbed a homerun as his club downed a tough Surrey foe 8-3.

In a Sunday home and home against Tri-City, pitching by Riley Kwak, Lucas Dykstra, Ryan Post, Alex Rezka, Colton Marshall and Riley Ashley led the way to two eventual wins.

Carson Noske led the bats, unselfishly moving runners into key scoring positions for others to cash in.

Chilliwack finished the regular season with a record of 23-3 and head into playoff play.
