The scorching-hot Chilliwack Chiefs stretched their winning streak to seven games with two road wins in Prince George.

The Chiefs beat the Spruce Kings 6-5 in double overtime Friday, despite being out-shot 53-37.

Chilliwack goalie Mark Sinclair was beaten three times on 15 shots in the first period, and his team trailed 3-1 through 20 minutes. But Sinclair settled in, stopping 36 of 38 shots the rest of the way.

A four goal second period out-burst had his Chiefs up by one through 40 minutes, with Will Calverley scoring his second of the game and Kale Kane, Connor McCarthy and Ben Fanjoy also lighting the lamp.

Chilliwack clung to a 5-4 lead until the final minute of the final frame.

PG’s Ben Brar knocked a rebound past Sinclair with just 10 ticks on the clock, and Spruce Kings scoring leader Brent Mennear had a chance to win it with a breakaway in OT.

But Sinclair shut him down, setting the stage for Kane to win it.

The Quebec kid evaded Spruce Kings defender Drew Lennon, and skated in alone to punch the winner past PG stopper Tavin Grant.

Grant thought he’d have the night off in Saturday’s rematch at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

He was wrong.

His absurdly long-named backup, Aris Anagnostopoulos got the start but only lasted 9:19 before getting the hook.

Calverley opened the scoring just five seconds in and PG’s Tyler Anderson tied it just 30 seconds later.

Anagnostopoulos was out after an Olivier Arseneau goal gave Chilliwack a lead they would not lose. Kohen Olischefski scored in the second period with Jordan Kawaguchi and Jake Smith striking in the third.

Brar collected a power play goal with 1:23 remaining to wrap up the scoring.

Sinclair stopped 27 of 29 shots in the Chilliwack net as his Chiefs improved to 28-9-5-0 and kept pace with the Wenatchee Wild in the Mainland division standings. The Wild (32-6-4-0) have won four straight and lead the second place Chiefs by seven points, with neither team holding any games in hand.

Next up for Chilliwack is a Wednesday night home game vs the Coquitlam Express, who shocked the BCHL world by winning both of their games last weekend.

The Express scored a 4-3 victory over the Surrey Eagles Thursday and doubled up Cowichan Valley 6-3 on Friday. They still own the league’s worst record at 9-33-1-2 and have lost four one-sided games to the Chiefs this season.

Puck drop is 7 p.m. at Prospera Centre.
