Chilliwack Chiefs get commitment from Yale Lions young gun

Kohen Olischefski could be a future star for the Chilliwack Chiefs, though he won't join the BCHL team full time for another year.

The Chilliwack Chiefs got a player commitment this week that won’t affect the 2014-15 roster much, but may have a huge impact in future years.

Kohen Olischefski, a 1998-born forward, will join the junior A team full time in 2015-16. He may see minor action this year as an affiliate player, but will play full time for Abbotsford’s Yale Academy U-18 Lions.

Last season, in 30 games including playoffs with the Yale Academy Elite 15 team, Olischefski scored 18 goals and added 35 assists. He captained his team to the Canadian Sports School Hockey League Championship and was named league MVP.

“Kohen is a very skilled player and we look forward to watching his development this season and will take every opportunity to use him as an affiliated player,” said Chiefs head coach/general manager Jason Tatarnic. “We are pleased he has decided to play his junior career in Chilliwack.”
