Chilliwack Chiefs forward in running for BCHL Player of the Week

Matt Holmes had a big weekend, helping his Chiefs to a win over Merritt and two over Surrey.

Chilliwack Chiefs forward Matt Holmes is one of the honourable mentions for the latest BCHL Player of the Week award.

The league announced the winner (for the week ending Jan. 20) Wednesday.

Penticton Vees goalie Jack LaFontaine took it, after backstopping his team to wins over Merritt and Wenatchee, stopping 111 of 116 pucks in regulation/overtime and making another 16 saves on shootout tries.

Holmes earned honourable mention status after netting four goals and an assist in wins over Merritt and Surrey (twice).

The 19 year old New York native is up to 21 goals and 54 points in 42 games played, good for fourth in the BCHL scoring race.
