Chilliwack Chiefs captain commits to Cougars

Chilliwack Chiefs captain Ty Miller will play for Mount Royal College next year.

Former Chilliwack Chiefs defenceman Ty Miller has found a post-secondary hockey spot, commiting to the Mount Royal Colllege Cougars for the 2012-13 season.

The Prince George native, Chilliwack’s captain last season, played parts of five BCHL seasons with his hometown Spruce Kings, the Quesnel Millionaires, Westside Warriors, Langley Chiefs and Chilliwack.

The steady six-foot-three and 212 pound blueliner wrapped up  his junior A career with six goals, 38 assists and 307 penalty minutes in 172 games played.

The Calgary-based Cougars skate in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

The Cougars led the eight team circuit in the regular season, posting a record of 22-2-3-1 before losing in five games to the NAIT (North Alberta Institute of Technology) Ooks in a best-of-five playoff series.

Mount Royal’s 2011-12 roster included two BCHL graduates. Eric Galbraith played from 2006-09 with Quesnel and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Brad Goss was a teammate of Miller’s with the Langley Chiefs, where he played from 2008-10.
