The Chilliwack Chiefs haven’t given up on the idea of a 2020-21 BCHL season, and neither has new forward Ben Woodhouse.
The 20-year-old was acquired Monday from the Ontario Junior A Hockey League’s Wellington Dukes, with future considerations going the other way.
Woodhouse, who hails from Hamilton, Ont., was a near point-per-game player with Wellington, producing 15 goals, 32 assists and 99 penalty minutes in 51 regular season and playoff games last season.
His eliteprospects.com page lists him as a five-foot-nine right-shooting center.
He helps fill a void in the Chilliwack forward ranks, which have been thinned by the departures of Ayrton Marino, Tommy Lyons, Frankie Carogioello and Kienan Draper to USHL teams.
“Ben is a player that we feel can come in and help to fill a void that was left with us losing some players due to COVID,” said Chiefs hockey boss Brian Maloney. “He is a veteran player with a lot of experience. He competes every shift and has a lot of skill and IQ that we feel will be a great asset for our young group moving forward.”
