Chilliwack Chief Harrison Blaisdell has boosted his stock in the eyes of the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.

The CSB released its mid-term rankings Monday, and Blaisdell is now viewed as a potential second round pick in next June’s NHL entry draft. Twenty six junior A players were included in the mid-terms, with Blaisdell checking in as the third highest prospect. Victoria Grizzlies superstar forward Alex Newhook tops the list and is ranked 16th overall among all North American players.

Newhook leads the BCHL in scoring with 70 points (including 25 goals) in 40 games. His linemate in Victoria, Alexander Campbell, is next in the rankings at No. 42.

Blaisell punches in at No. 52, five spots ahead of Penticton Vees forward Massimo Rizzo.

His Chiefs teammate, Kevin Wall, finds his way onto the list at 190th overall, making him a potential seventh round pick. Despite missing seven games this season, the 18 year old New York native is 16th in BCHL points with 47 (including 23 goals), and Wall ranks seventh in points per game with 1.27.

Other BCHLers on the CSB list are Victoria defenceman Jeremie Bucheler (113th overall), Prince george defender Layton Ahac (114th), Langley forward Ethan Leyh (161st) and Victoria blueliner Carter Berger (181st).

Several of these players, including Blaisdell and Wall, will play in Tuesday night’s CJHL Prospects Game in Okotoks, Alberta.

This year’s NHL draft is being held June 21-22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
