Chiefs make deadline deal for defenceman

The BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs made a trade with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers Tuesday, acquiring defenceman Anderson White.

On trade deadline day in the BCHL and CJHL, the Chilliwack Chiefs have acquired 20-year-old defenseman Anderson White from the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers.

White comes to the Chiefs in exchange for future considations.

The six-foot-four and 215 pound blueliner is a native of Caledon, Ontario and spent half a season with the Quesnel Millionaires before going to the Bucs.

Chiefs general manager Harvey Smyl says White will bring a few assets to the Chiefs.

“Anderson is a good skater who is difficult to play against in his own end and is capable of chipping in offensively as well,” Smyl noted.

White will arrive in Chilliwack tonight and will be on the ice Wednesday for practice.

Chilliwack's next game is Friday night, hosting the Prince George Spruce Kings at Prospera Centre.

Puck drop is 7 p.m.
