Chiefs blueliner teams up with Tigers

The Chilliwack Chiefs have another player committed to an NCAA program, with Alex Perron-Fontaine signing with RIT.

Chilliwack Chiefs defenceman Alexandre Perron-Fontaine has accepted a scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) for the 2013-14 season.

In his first BCHL season, Perron Fontaine recorded three goals and 17 assists, adding mobility and puck movement to Chilliwack’s blueline.

The Quebec native is the eighth Chief to net a post-secondary scholarship, joining an NCAA program that has drawn heavily on BCHL talent.

The Tigers had nine ex-BCHLers on their roster in the just-completed season and current BCHLers Josh Mitchell, Rajan Sidhu and Daniel Schuler are also committed to RIT.

The Tigers play in the Atlantic Hockey Association of NCAA Division I. RIT went 14-7-6 this season to finish fifth in the 12 team AHA.

The Tigers advanced to the final of the AHA tournament before losing 4-0 to Air Force.
