Cascades blank Clan in exhibition match

The University of Fraser Valley men's soccer team heads to Victoria this weekend for more pre-season action.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer team downed the Simon Fraser University Clan 1-0 in a Wednesday afternoon exhibition match in Burnaby.

Abbotsford's Mark Village scored the game's lone goal midway through the second half. Chilliwack FC product Jacob Kubanski earned the win in net for UFV.

“A great performance by all players involved and a good way to build their confidence prior to the tournament ahead,” said UFV head coach Alan Errington. “Ravi Singh (Abbotsford) had an outstanding game at centre-back alongside Brian Davis (Abbotsford), who was equally as effective.”

The Cascades head to Victoria this weekend to participate in the 2012 Keg Spring Classic, hosted by the University of Victoria Vikes soccer teams.

In the 2011 Keg Classic the Cascades defeated the Vikes, 4-3 in the semi-final match, before falling 4-2 to the UBC Thunderbirds in the final.
