Bowen joining Warriors for WHL debut

Chilliwack Minor Hockey product Ryan Bowen will see Western Hockey League action for the first time Friday night in Portland.

Chilliwack native Ryan Bowen will make his regular season Western Hockey League debut Friday night as his Moose Jaw Warriors visit the Portland Winter Hawks.

The 15-year-old forward is eligible to play five games, and he’ll get them in as the Warriors continue a western road swing.

Bowen will play in Everett Saturday night, continuing on to games against the Seattle Thunderbirds (Tuesday), Tri-City Americans (Wednesday) and Spokane Chiefs (Friday).

As the Warriors head for home, he’ll return to Penticton and his Okanagan Hockey Academy midget prep team.

Bowen was Moose Jaw’s fifth round pick in last spring’s WHL bantam draft. He scored a goal in a 5-4 preseason loss against Swift Current.
