BCHL supplies 10 skaters for CJHL Prospects Game

No Chilliwack Chiefs made the list, although ex-Chief prospect Parm Dhaliwal will play in the showcase event.

Ten BCHLers have been invited to play in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Prospects Game.

The match on Jan. 25 will pit Team West vs Team East in Cornwall, ON.

The BCHLers will play for Team West along with players from the Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba junior A circuits.

The BCHL crew includes goaltender Ty Taylor of the Vernon Vipers.

Griffin Mendel of the Penticton Vees and Cory Babichuk of the Surrey Eagles will suit up on defence.

Desi Burgart (Surrey), Parm Dhaliwal (West Kelowna), Kale Howarth (Trail), Marcus Mitchell (Salmon Arm), Michael Regush (Merritt), Jamie Rome (Victoria) and Tyler Ward (Merritt) provide more than half of the 12 man forward contingent for Team West.

Each of the players chosen to participate in the CJHL Prospects Game were selected through the efforts of NHL Central Scouting and are currently among the top 40 CJHL prospects heading into the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago.

“We are confident this group of young men will provide all those in attendance, including the multitude of scouts and Junior A hockey fans alike, a tremendous showcase of CJHL talent from right across the country,” added Ladds.

The game will be played at the Ed Lumley Arena within the confines of the Cornwall Civic Complex, with a 4:30 PST start time.
