BCHL extra: Gannon commits to Cougars

One of the BCHL's top guns is joining the Mount Royal University in 2012-13.

Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Devin Gannon has committed to Mount Royal University in Calgary for the coming season.

Gannon led the Caps in scoring during the 2011-12 season with 89 points in 66 games played. He was the only skater to claim multiple BCHL Player of the Week awards in the regular season.

In 180 career BCHL games split between the Salmon Arm SilverBacks and Cowichan Valley, Gannon totaled 59 goals and 95 assists.

The Mount Royal Cougars are heading into their inaugural season as a part of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) and are pleased to have a player of Gannon’s calibre on board.

“We are very happy to get a player of Devin’s character and ability – he’s got a bright future ahead of him,” said Cougars’ head coach Jean Laforest.
