Bantam battle at baseball tourney

Chilliwack Minor Baseball

Chilliwack’s bantam AA baseball Cougars travelled to Kelowna last weekend for the Valley of Champions tournament.

The locals finished the four game round robin section with a 3-1 record.

The Cougars won games over Rutland (12-4), Victoria (18-1) and North Delta (14-4), dropping a 12-10 decision to Cloverdale.

Chilliwack advanced to Sunday’s 10 team semi-final draw, facing their arch-rivals from Abbotsford.

A 13-3 loss landed them in the third-fourth place game where they lost 9-8 to Coquitlam/Moody.

Chilliwack finished fourth overall, a good result against some of the top teams from B.C. and Alberta.

The Cougars finish their regular season schedule on the road, visiting Cloverdale tonight before a Saturday double header   in Surrey.
