Attack fall to Battleaxes on frigid field

The Aldergrove Battleaxes out-slugged the Chilliwack Attack, taking a 7-4 decision in gold women's soccer action Sunday.

The Chilliwack Attack traveled to Aldergrove Sunday to play in a windy and rain-soaked gold women's soccer match against the Aldergrove Battleaxes. The game was a wild affair, with goals coming fast and furious.

Aldergrove scored three times in the first 10 minutes.

Andrea Feaver replied for Chilliwack at the 23 minute mark, taking a drop pass from Janelle Cavanaugh and firing a low shot past the Battleaxe keeper. Feaver scored again one minute later off another Cavanaugh feed to close the gap to 3-2.

Aldergrove went up 4-2 at the 28 minute mark, but Feaver completed her hat-trick six minutes later, again set up by Cavanaugh, and the Attack trailed by one at the break.

Kirsty Fearn appeared to score the equalizer early in the second half when she headed in a beautiful free kick from Rebecca Bramley. However, the referee called her offside.

Aldergrove rolled from there, scoring twice to expand their lead to 6-3.

Andrea Northcott scored at the 30 minute mark, set up by Feaver, but the Battleaxes added another late strike to make the final 7-4.

Chilliwack host Coastal FC Supra Sunday at the Tzeachten Sportsfield.
