Chilliwack Spartan Swim Club grad Jessie Gibson helped the Simon Fraser University women’s team to their best-ever showing at NCAA Div-II nationals and earned five All-American finishes at last weekend’s year-end meet.

Gibson competed at the Indiana University Natatorium, where All-American status was given to swimmers who finished top eight in their races. Gibson met that mark on the first day with a third place finish in the 200 yard fly. She posted a time of 2:00.02 in trials and shaved it down to a lightning quick 1:59.08 in the final. On day two the third-year swimmer earned an eighth place finish in the 100 yard fly. She teamed with other SFU swimmers to earn All-American status in three relay races; the 200 yard medley and 400 and 800 yard freestyles.

The SFU women’s team finished the meet with 143 points, good for 13th overall.
