Agonizing loss for Chilliwack Storm in high school rugby

In the tier II Fraser Valley final, Chilliwack secondary school trailed early, rallied late and came up short against Seaquam.

Chilliwack secondary school’s rugby boys lost a heartbreaker in the Fraser Valley Tier-II championship game last Friday.

The Storm hosted Seaquam and trailed 21-3 at the half.

But a furious rally saw CSS score 10 points in the first five minutes of the second half, and pull to within two points (26-24) as time ticked down.

Kicker Mauriz Poggemann, three for three on kicks to that point, had a chance to give his team the lead, but watched in agony as his penalty kick attempt sailed three feet wide right in the final seconds.
