Although initially strongly negative on the HST, I have long since realized my feelings were really a reaction to Gordon Campbell’s assumption that he could get away with not explaining it in advance, so that it could be debated publicly before it was passed into law. That assumption cost him the premiership.

The B.C. government has released its audited public accounts for what Bill Vander Zalm enthusiasts strain to depict as Year One of the Harmonized Sales Tax Apocalypse.

Last week, the Council of the Federation, otherwise casually known as the premiers’ conference, met in Vancouver to brainstorm trade initiatives and strategies to position provinces and territories in the global economy.

Last night, July 19, when it was still light out, my husband, myself and our special needs daughter went out for our evening walk. We were on the tail end of it, waiting at the crosswalk intersection of Watson/Promontory and Vedder to cross over to the Shoppers Drug Mart side and walk two blocks to home. We waited for the walk signal, looked to the left behind us and looked across to the potential oncoming turning traffic. It was safe to cross; we were clearly visible – or so we thought.

In his letter of July 15, Clifford Roulston asked some very interesting questions and I, for one, would suggest some of the reasons for the decline in our country’s overall wellbeing:

Re: Marilyn Derksen’s letter, Chilliwack Progress, July 19. I feel it important that no blame be attached to Festival of the Arts for fowl droppings on Harrison’s beach.

As of today my faith in humankind has been restored. All too often we tend to focus on the evil in people and the decline of the human race.

I cannot help wondering when ICBC got into the medical profession of diagnosing dementia.
