Letters: Music teachers grateful for support

The Chilliwack BC Registered Music Teachers Association would like to thank Chilliwack community its support of Musicathon 2016.

The Chilliwack BC Registered Music Teachers Association would like to thank the Chilliwack community as a whole for their support in their most recent fundraiser - Musicathon 2016.

Great success was achieved in raising funds for the BCRMTA Chilliwack Community Concert Grand Piano stored at the Chilliwack Cultural Center.

A delightful marathon of music was performed by the students of the BCRMTA on April 8 featuring eight hours of live continuous music!  Performers ranged in age from three-over 60, and 11 teachers from the Chilliwack Branch participated in the afternoon.  A silent auction complimented the experience and featured many local businesses who donated items or gift certificates to help in raising money for the cause.

One of the most notable contributions to the auction was a painting by 17-year-old student Janelle Ryan inspired by the piano composition entitled “Sunset at Jericho Beach” written by Canadian Composer Steven Chatman.

The Musicathon was an absolutely wonderful event, and with the help of many AMAZING businesses, the Chilliwack BCRMTA is able to continue to encourage growing musicians with Student Support Programs.  Please visit our website for more information about our organization www.chwkmusiclessons.com
